The Massive Open Online Courses – Mooc, developed as part of the ECHO-Tourism project and financed by Erasmus+ aims to sensitize professionals of the tourism sector to a greener and more sustainable tourism.
The ECHO-Tourism MOOC aims to bring those who work in the tourism sector closer to adopting a series of daily measures and good practices, aimed at reducing both the ecological and social impact of their activities. It proposes a progressive path of acquiring knowledge in sustainable tourism and a “step by step” methodology aiming at the adoption of good practices, ranging from simple daily actions to more complex interventions.
This MOOC is easily adaptable to the wide range of tourism services, providing practical ideas on how to orientate towards eco-sustainable tourism.
The ultimate goal is, for the professionals of the industry, to replicate the best practices learned, relaying them to the public (the tourists and visitors) and upscaling thus the approach, and enhancing the potentiality of getting a real impact on local territories.
The MOOC is therefore structured in paths with detailed steps, passing from self-diagnosis, and the analysis of the learner’s own needs and standards in terms of eco-sustainability to the adoption of targeted strategies, and the elaboration of concrete action plans. The course proposes six thematic paths. Each path also includes downloadable ECHO-Tourism eco-guides, summarizing eco-gestures as simple actions to be taken both daily and on the long term.
